St. Francis Institute of Art & Design was established in 1989, with the aim of training aspiring artists and designers into competent professionals. It is situated in the lush green belt on the S.V.P. Road, Borivali (W), Mumbai. The location of the Institution is such that it has the added advantage of having a quiet, serene and congenial atmosphere-which keep students and staff fresh throughout.

The Institute is established and administered by the Society of the congregation of Franciscan Missionary Brothers. The congregation was established in Mumbai in 1908, and has branches over 94 centres in India and 22 centres abroad in Various Asian, European, U.S.A, Canada, Africa (Ghana) and south American countries. The congregation’s main charism is to render service to all strata of humanity especially the vulnerable section of the society in order to empower them, help them, attain integral development and live a free, dignified and truthful life, so that the human values become incarnate in today’s society with its specific challenges and needs.

Hence every student who joins this institute should inculcate human values such as honesty, justice, peace, mercy, compassion, tolerance, charity, dedication, hard work, lover for animate being and inanimate things and a special love for ecology after the example of St. Francis of Assisi, who is the patron of ecology as well as the patron of our institutions.

We will develop competent and responsible artists and designers in tune with Franciscan ideals of Peace and Love.

Our Infrastructure

Computer Lab : The institute has well established and well-furnished computer lab with 60 computers. All equipped with latest and modern technologies.

Library : To provide the best theoretical knowledge to students, we have a library with latest textbooks and periodicals related to Design, Architecture, Interior Design and other allied subjects of famous authors from all over the world. The Institute also subscribes to various journals and magazines on Architecture and Interior Design. The library and reading room are open to students between 8.30 am to 6.00 pm., every day except Sundays and Public Holidays.

Classrooms : The classrooms are air-conditioned and very spacious. They are ergonomically designed for participative learning and are equipped with all the necessary audio-visual facilities such as microphones, LCD projector, speakers etc. Computer System is available in each of the classrooms and is effectively used as a teaching aid. Institute also host specially designed tutorial rooms for conducting debates & discussions.

Auditorium & Seminar Hall : Our acoustically designed air-conditioned auditorium has a seating capacity of 400; stands ideal for hosting various Seminars, cultural activities & functions. Various other training programs are conducted in SFIAD especially for Industry correlation.

Recreational Facilities : Replenishing refreshing energy into our students, a range of facilities are available for indoor & outdoor games in campus. Encouraging the spirit of sportsmanship, a slew of annual competitions are conducted for sports & cultural activities on our vastly spread playground.
